A permanent winter sprinkler ban applies to all scheme and bore water users in Busselton Water's licensed area.
When does the ban apply?
The ban will apply from the 1st June to 31st August.
Does the ban apply to Busselton?
Yes. The ban applies to the South West areas and to the Perth/Mandurah area.
Who does the ban apply to?
The winter sprinkler ban applies to garden bore, scheme and over 600 licensed water users.
Licensed water users include local governments, schools, golf courses, government departments, universities, TAFE campuses, major parks, race grounds and businesses irrigating areas of non-commercial turf, lawn and gardens.
'Active' sporting areas such as school and local government ovals are allowed limited irrigation during winter due to their frequent use and the value they provide to the wider community.
Can I use a hose?
Yes. A handheld hose or watering can is permitted.
Are there Exemptions?
There are a number of automatic exemptions from the winter sprinkler ban and the watering day rosters, including exemptions for those people employed in the turf, garden and landscaping industries. To find the list of exemptions click here.
