Discolouration

Our aim is to deliver the highest quality water every day.

Even so, it’s not uncommon in spring, summer or over periods of high demand for water suppliers to experience problems with discolouration of water.

Discolouration can occur when high water demand and increased water flow dislodges minute iron particles and sediment in pipelines. It can be caused by mains or internal household piping.

Discoloured water is absolutely safe to drink.

Busselton Water conducts extensive testing across our network of more than 300 kilometres of pipeline to provide early detection of potential discolouration. It also conducts regular flushing programs to prevent sediment building up within the system.
