Meters

Busselton Water, like many other water utilities, is faced with the challenge of managing a finite water supply in an environment of high population growth and a drying climate impacted by climate change. To effectively manage our water supply, we are continually looking at new and innovative technologies that can offer better and more efficient ways of doing business.
Smart meters are an innovation that have been adopted around the world. They offer considerable benefits for both consumers and organisations alike.
Busselton Water commenced the installation of radio frequency (RF) smart meters across our water network almost 20 years ago, in 2006. Today, every home and business within Busselton Water’s licensed area has one of these advanced meters installed.
One of the most significant benefits to date from this technology is the early detection of leaks.
Trialling new technologies
Busselton Water is continuing to build on this technology and are always looking at industry improvements that will assist us in extending and or improving our smart meter infrastructure.
As part of this, we will undertake trials of new technologies with a focus on initiatives that deliver near real-time usage data, which will mean more efficient management, monitoring and control of your water consumption.
Busselton Water will also be able to use this information to plan for the future helping to improve the efficiency of our water system and keeping costs low.
