A new wave of support for local community groups

Eight local community groups have secured funding under the Busselton Water Community Partnership Program to assist with grassroots programs over the next year.
The Community Partnership Program, now in its fourth year, will provide close to $15,000 to local groups supporting education, accessibility, sports, sustainability and wildlife.
Busselton Water Managing Director, Chris Elliott said the calibre of applicants improves every year.
“Over the past four years we’ve received more than 65 applications from community groups in the local area – the quality of projects and applications is simply outstanding,” said Mr Elliott.
“Congratulations to the successful recipients, we look forward to seeing these partnerships flourish and provide enormous benefit to our local community.”
The eight groups receiving Busselton Water support are:
- West Busselton Primary School
- Dunsborough and Busselton Wildlife Care Inc
- Busselton Senior High School
- Geographe Education Support Centre
- Acting Up! Academy of Performing Arts
- Busselton Naturalists Club
- Disabled Surfers Association South West
- Busselton Hockey Stadium Club Inc
Busselton Naturalists Club plans to use the funds to assist in the revegetation of the Ambergate Reserve.
President, Bernie Masters said the Club, together with local conservation agencies and the City of Busselton, are mindful of just how important the Reserve is for biodiversity.
“Two years ago, the Busselton Naturalists Club decided that every year for the next five years, we would revegetate a small part of the reserve,” Mr Masters explained.
“Thanks to Busselton Water, we’ll be able to purchase and install temporary fencing around newly planted areas to ensure protection for substantial growth in the area.”
Busselton Water’s Community Partnership Program commenced in 2016 and has since supported 25 local groups and invested more than $75,000 into local community organisations.
