Drama scholarship up for grabs for talented Busselton students

Local students who have a knack for the performing arts, but who are not in the financial position to enrol in drama classes, have an opportunity to follow their passion through the Busselton Water Acting Up! Scholarship Program, now open for applications.

Busselton Water has supported the two scholarships which will provide one year of drama classes at Acting Up! following the success of the organisation’s participation in a similar program in 2017.

The Busselton-based performing arts academy has been in operation for nearly 15 years with the main objective of providing drama and musical theatre classes that are not only delivered to a high standard but are fun for all involved.

Busselton Water Managing Director, Chris Elliott said that the organisation was pleased to build on the successful partnership that began in 2017.

“The team at Acting Up! bring so much happiness and purpose to their students’ lives and we’re thrilled to be involved in sharing this with two talented students from our community. Our hope is that, in removing the financial barrier, this program helps the successful applicants realise their full potential.”

Acting Up! Educational Director Terry Thompson said, “We help children build healthy life skills such as self-confidence, self-esteem and self-reliance, as well as communication and teamwork skills.”

“With Busselton Water’s support, two students who would not otherwise be able to access these classes will have an opportunity to develop and nurture these skills which will undoubtedly continue to benefit them in the years to come,” said Mr Thompson.

Applications close on Friday, 28 February 2020 at 5pm and successful applicants will be announced in early March.

Acting Up! Academy of Performing Arts is one of eight local community groups supported under Busselton Water’s 2019-20 Community Partnership Program.
