Improving longevity of our water filters
Posted: 14 December 2018
Providing high quality drinking water in the most cost effective, safe and sustainable way is important to Busselton Water. To plan for future growth and as part of our continued commitment to our customers, Busselton Water upgraded filters at its Water Treatment Plant 1 on Kent Street.
The plant’s filters were replaced with new stainless steel gravity sand filters. The new unpainted finish on the filters will last longer and cost less than the previous painted ones which were mild steel, and additional stairways and landings have made operational access safer for Busselton Water staff.
The project, which was completed in 2018, will result in the long-term use of Plant 1 as one of Busselton’s key water sources and water treatment sites for decades to come.
In 2020 this project was awarded the Australian Water Associations (AWA) West Australian Infrastructure Project Innovation Award (Regional) and nominated in the 2021 AWA National Awards – watch video submission
