Busselton Water encourages ‘super saving’ over summer

Summer is now in full swing and so is the summer watering roster!

To protect Busselton’s precious water supply, the state-wide two-day sprinkler roster is in place over the summer months with each household permitted only to water on their two allocated watering days.

On these allocated days, sprinklers and reticulation should be set to only water once – either before 9am or after 6pm – or households could risk a fine.

Busselton Water CEO Chris Elliott believes more of an emphasis is needed on preserving our local water supply, especially with climate change an increasingly impacting factor.

“It’s so important to consider not only our personal water use, but other factors that affect our local water supply – including our usual population spike to 50,000 people over the holiday period, and the pressure that our warming climate has on our natural water supply.

“We need to preserve our precious water wherever we can around our homes and businesses this summer,” said Mr Elliott.

“From only watering on your allocated days, to using a pool cover and washing your car on the lawn with a bucket – you can do your part this summer to be a super saver.”

To calculate your watering days, look for the last digit of your house number on the roster. For example, 12 Rose Street would water on Thursday and Sunday as their last digit is 2.

For properties who are yet to be assigned a house number, please use your lot number.
