Recognising National Reconciliation Week

This week we recognise National Reconciliation Week, 27 May – 3 June. This year’s theme, Be a Voice for Generations, encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and socialise.

As part of Busselton Water’s acknowledgement of National Reconciliation Week our teams participated in an Aboriginal Food, Culture and Cave Didgeridoo Tour with KoomalDreaming, Josh Whiteland.

Teams took part in a guided bushwalk to learn about seasonal native bush foods and medicines including their cultural uses, discussed the six Noongar seasons and how they influence what is hunted and gathered, discovered the art of traditional fire lighting and tool making and then journeyed into Ngilgi Cave for Josh’s authentic storytelling of the Dreaming and a unique didgeridoo experience.

To finish off the tour we enjoyed a taste of traditional foods and flavours around the campfire with a gourmet BBQ lunch.

Thanks Josh and the team from KoomalDreaming we all had such a great time!
